Hair Ceremonies

Our hair is not just a fabric of energy, but a tangible reminder of our past and what is. Sometimes, a haircut symbolizes the change we need to move forward. Other times, we need silence and stillness and care. We will set an intention and create a safe space through saining, cards, crown reiki, a personalized tea rinse, a hot oil treatment, and crystal combing.

This is a time to ground ourselves in our bodies and authentically express who we are to the world. There are no mirrors and no music—only the sounds of nature. There are no overhead lights—just the sun and moon. We sit on the ground and call back all the parts of ourselves that we often scatter, reclaiming our presence. We build an altar, create the circle, and begin the ceremony. This experience usually entails some laughing, crying, giggling- but mostly silence. We close with you blowing out the candle, as many women have done in my care before you. Though it may be just the two of us, this is a conscious collective experience shared by the divine feminine in us all.

At the end of our time together, I will take a portrait of you with my Polaroid, which you can take home, along with a bundle of your hair and any altar items I gathered for you. This is truly a special time together, and it is my most cherished way to give from my heart. A ceremony is appropriate at any time, especially during significant life events. If you feel called to align your ceremony with the moon, I have some suggestions: for significant change, I recommend a New Moon booking. For clarity and letting go, a Full Moon is ideal. The entire ceremony takes between 2-3 hours and costs $444 (installment plans available, I never want someone to not do this because they dont have the full finances for it. Please just ask). I have a few special places near Salt Lake City depending on the weather and always open to travel to any place that is dear to you. Wear your most beautiful dress or comfiest sweats, just come as you are.

“I’ve felt connected to a softness inside ever since. It’s been nice to be aware of that soft and intentional slowness…” - Erin, Ceremony Client

Initiation. Release. Ritual.

My hair ceremony with Rachael was a totally unique experience. I am the only person in my family with curly hair and always ended up with cuts/styles for straight hair so I have some nervous energy with having hands in it, but I really wanted to try this offering. The ceremony was gentle, connected, and authentic. It brought me back to being a kiddo with my older sister braiding my hair, feeling that deep bond. Since the ceremony I developed a much more loving way of interacting with my hair and I never skip my crown when I burn sage now. This is something I would do monthly, seasonally, or gift for a solar return.
